The President of Pakistan Peoples Party Workers, Dr. Safdar Ali Abbasi, and the political aide of the late Benazir Bhutto, Naheed Khan, stated that Independence Day is a day to renew the commitment to Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan, the Constitution of 1973, democracy, the supremacy of the Constitution, and the protection of the fundamental rights of the people.
On the occasion of Independence Day, Naheed Khan and Dr. Safdar Ali Abbasi, along with their other officials including Fayaz Khan, Sardar Har Bukhari, Raye Qaiser, Malik Mazhar, Amjad Baloch, Naveed Sadiq, Ghulam Ali, Farah Ibrahim Khan, Sajida Mir, Mahboob Sultana, and others, emphasized in their important statement that Independence Day is a day to remember the great sacrifices of the Pakistan Movement and to renew the commitment to the country’s development and sovereignty. Quaid-e-Azam presented the vision of a Pakistan based on equal citizenship, justice, religious freedom, and fundamental rights. They stated that the 1973 Constitution is a fundamental guarantee of national consensus, democratic system, and people’s rights. The struggle of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for democracy, national sovereignty, and people’s rights is an unforgettable chapter in Pakistan’s history. PPP Workers emphasized the supremacy of the Constitution, strengthening of Parliament, respect for the people’s mandate, provincial autonomy, and protection of civil liberties, stating that they will continue their struggle for a democratic, peaceful, sovereign, prosperous, and just Pakistan.
