Open auction of two RDA parking plazas in Raja Bazaar, annual contracts worth millions issued
Rawalpindi: (Syed Shahid Waheed Hashmi) Following the directives of Rawalpindi Commissioner and Director General of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Salman Ghani, an open auction was held for two parking plazas owned by the RDA in Raja Bazaar, where contracts were auctioned transparently in accordance with established rules and regulations. During the open auction, contracts for the RDA parking plazas located in front of Fawara Chowk and the Tehsil Office were awarded to successful bidders. The contract for the Fawara Chowk parking plaza was approved in the name of Mr. Zabiullah, with an annual rent set at 64.7 million rupees. Similarly, the contract for the RDA parking plaza in front of the Tehsil Office was awarded to Waseela Enterprises, with an annual rent set at 4.685 million rupees. The auction committee completed the auction process in full compliance with all established rules and regulations, while ensuring transparency, merit, and legal requirements were given special consideration. It was also decided to increase the annual rents of both parking plazas by 10 percent.
According to RDA officials, the effective use of the parking plazas will help reduce traffic congestion in Raja Bazaar and provide better parking facilities for citizens. Officials stated that efforts are ongoing to ensure transparent, organized, and effective management of RDA’s assets and properties.
