London/Jeddah (Bureau Report) The Overseas Pakistanis Global Foundation (OPGF) President Khalid Nawaz Cheema, Pakistan Investor Forum Jeddah General Secretary Abdul Khaliq Lak, and former Federal Minister Chaudhry Shahbaz Hussain expressed strong condemnation regarding the unfortunate incident involving Syed Qamar Raza Shah, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, in London. They stated that mocking, humiliating, harassing, or defaming any individual under the guise of differing opinions is completely unacceptable.
Khalid Nawaz Cheema, in his unequivocal statement, said that everyone has the right to express differing opinions, but violating someone’s dignity, behaving rudely, and attempting to exert pressure through personal attacks is highly condemnable. Community issues should be resolved not through abuse, intimidation, and accusations, but through reason, politeness, and factual basis.
He noted that Syed Qamar Raza Shah has played a bridging role between the Kashmir Action Committee and the government even in the most challenging circumstances, dedicating his full energies to resolving matters through understanding rather than confrontation. It is regrettable that today this very individual is being targeted with criticism and accusations.
Khalid Nawaz Cheema stated that Syed Qamar Raza Shah has always played a positive role in resolving the issues of overseas Pakistanis, uniting the community, and bringing people closer together. Any attempt to dispute his services or damage his reputation through personal attacks is regrettable.
He clarified that if there are objections, they should be presented with arguments and evidence; if there are disagreements, they should be expressed in a civilized manner. However, no one has the right to insult someone’s dignity or harass them. Personal attacks and defamation do not change facts, nor can they erase anyone’s national and collective services.
Khalid Nawaz Cheema stated that the Overseas Pakistanis Global Foundation in Saudi Arabia believes in community unity, mutual respect, tolerance, and the rule of law. It is crucial to unite overseas Pakistanis rather than divide them.
He emphasized that it is time to put an end to accusations, personal confrontations, and mockery. Any matter should be raised with evidence and facts in the relevant forum, as personal attacks and harassment are unacceptable in any civilized society. Political and social public business figures among overseas Pakistanis residing in Saudi Arabia expressed complete solidarity with Syed Qamar Raza Shah, stating that protecting the dignity and honor of individuals serving overseas Pakistanis is a shared responsibility for all of us. No one should be allowed to turn differing opinions into enmity.
