*CDA Launches Unbiased Operation Against Illegal Commercial Buildings on Islamabad Expressway Service Road East*

Islamabad (Staff Reporter): The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has conducted an unbiased operation against illegal commercial buildings on the Islamabad Expressway Service Road East. During the operation, several commercial buildings were sealed due to violations of building bylaws, non-conforming use, and inadequate or non-existent fire safety arrangements.
Prior to the operation, the relevant wing of the CDA issued notices to the building owners and concerned individuals in accordance with the law. After the deadline provided in the notices expired, action was taken against illegal constructions and violations.
According to the CDA, the aim of these operations is to take legal action against all commercial buildings and units that have not obtained an approved building plan from the CDA or have not completed the necessary legal requirements for regular approval, registration, and other mandatory obligations. Preliminary assessments revealed violations in some buildings regarding the approval of construction plans, fire safety certification, and other essential regulatory requirements.
The Islamabad Expressway Service Road East project consists of the construction of a 9.3-kilometer-long, two-way, three-lane carriageway from Faizabad to Korang. The purpose of this project is to improve traffic flow in the city, provide citizens with safe and better travel facilities, and develop infrastructure according to the modern needs of the capital, Islamabad.
The CDA is vigorously taking action against illegal constructions, encroachments, violations of building bylaws, and non-conforming use in the capital. Legal action is being taken against commercial buildings and units that have not obtained formal approval for their building plans from the CDA or have not completed the necessary registration and regularization steps.
According to the CDA, illegal and non-conforming use buildings can lead to financial losses for the government treasury due to the non-receipt of government dues, approval fees, regularization fees, and other legal payments. Furthermore, inadequate fire safety measures can pose serious risks to the lives and property of citizens.
The CDA has clarified that actions against non-conforming use, illegal constructions, and violations of building bylaws on the Islamabad Expressway Service Road East have been carried out impartially and in accordance with the law.
