Fact-Finding Committee Recommends Departmental Action Under the PEEDA Act; Case Also Registered

Rawalpindi (Syed Shahid Waheed Hashmi): The inquiry into the incident in which the thumb of a 23-day-old baby was cut at Holy Family Hospital has been completed, with a female nurse held responsible for negligence.

The fact-finding committee held female nurse Neelum Siddiq responsible for negligence and recommended departmental action against her under the PEEDA Act. A case has also been registered in connection with the incident.

The fact-finding committee has completed its report on the incident involving the cutting of the thumb of a 23-day-old baby at Holy Family Hospital. Medical Superintendent Holy Family Hospital Dr. Ijaz Butt said that a zero-tolerance policy had been adopted regarding negligence and that strict SOPs would be implemented to prevent such incidents in the future.

Meanwhile, a case has also been registered at the local police station on the application of the affected girl’s father.

The 23-day-old daughter of Qaiser Mahmood, a carpenter from Attock, was receiving treatment in the hospital nursery when the thumb of her right hand was mysteriously cut off.
