Rawalpindi: (Syed Shahid Waheed Hashmi) The President Beiruni police arrested 9 suspects during an operation related to a shooting incident over a land dispute and resistance against police officers. Two Kalashnikovs and five pistols were recovered from the arrested individuals. According to the police, there was intense gunfire exchanged between both parties over the land dispute, and when the police arrived at the scene, the suspects resisted the police officers. A case was registered under various sections including terrorism, resistance against police, and obstructing public roads. A police spokesperson stated that 9 suspects involved in the shooting were arrested and heavy weapons were recovered from them. The police have handed over the arrested suspects to the relevant authorities for interrogation, while raids are being conducted at various locations to arrest other individuals involved in the incident. The SP President stated that the police have a zero-tolerance policy against land grabbing, land mafia, and such crimes. Actions against lawbreakers will continue without discrimination to protect the lives and property of citizens and maintain law and order. Police officials have stated that disputes over land will not be allowed to be resolved by taking the law into one’s own hands, and strict legal action will be taken against those involved in firing, displaying weapons, or resisting police duties.
