Rawalpindi Being Transformed into a Green, Beautiful, and Environment-Friendly City in Line with Punjab Government’s Vision, Says Ahmed Hassan Ranjha
Rawalpindi (Staff Reporter): Managing Director of the Horticulture Agency Rawalpindi, Ahmed Hassan Ranjha, has said that tree plantation is not merely a campaign but a national responsibility aimed at providing future generations with a healthy, clean, and pleasant environment. He emphasized that in view of climate change, rising pollution, and increasing temperatures, planting trees has become one of the most pressing needs of the time.
He stated that, in accordance with the vision of the Punjab Government and the special directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the Horticulture Agency Rawalpindi is taking comprehensive measures to transform the city into a greener, more beautiful, and environmentally friendly place.
Ahmed Hassan Ranjha said that the agency is carrying out extensive tree plantation drives across green belts, parks, roadsides, public squares, and other public spaces. In addition, seasonal flowers are being cultivated, lawns are being restored, ornamental plants are being installed, and various environment-friendly initiatives are being undertaken on a continuous basis. He noted that these efforts are intended not only to enhance the city’s beauty but also to provide citizens with cleaner air and a healthier living environment.
He further stated that trees are a priceless gift of nature, playing a vital role in producing oxygen, reducing air pollution, moderating temperatures, preventing soil erosion, and preserving biodiversity. A green city, he said, is not only environmentally sustainable but also has a positive impact on the physical and mental well-being of its residents.
The Managing Director added that the Horticulture Agency is continuously working to modernize and beautify parks, expand plant nurseries, cultivate new plant varieties, and promote green infrastructure. Thousands of new saplings are being planted in different parts of the city, while equal attention is being given to the protection and maintenance of existing green spaces to ensure the long-term success of these initiatives.
Ahmed Hassan Ranjha appealed to citizens, educational institutions, civil society organizations, the business community, and young people to actively participate in the tree plantation campaign. He urged every individual to plant at least one tree and take responsibility for its care and growth, emphasizing that planting trees alone is not sufficient unless they are properly maintained.
He further remarked that building a clean, green, and beautiful Rawalpindi is a shared responsibility of the government, public institutions, and citizens alike. If everyone contributes to environmental protection, he said, future generations can be provided with a safer, healthier, and more sustainable Pakistan.
Reaffirming the agency’s commitment, Ahmed Hassan Ranjha said that the Horticulture Agency Rawalpindi will continue to utilize all available resources to make the city greener, more attractive, and environmentally friendly in line with the Punjab Government’s vision. He added that tree plantation campaigns, park improvement projects, and the development of green belts will be further strengthened so that Rawalpindi can be counted among the country’s most beautiful and exemplary cities.
