The rockfall occurred suddenly while Zamin Abbas, a resident of Kakar Nawala, was on the job, resulting in his immediate death. The deceased was the sole breadwinner and support for his elderly parents, and his untimely death has plunged the entire area into mourning. This tragic accident has once again raised serious questions about the safety and protection of workers in mines. Due to the lack of basic safety measures and oversight, laborers are forced to risk their lives daily. Zahid Iqbal Malakhel stated that workers earning millions monthly are not provided with facilities, leading to frequent accidents in the mines. The Pakistan Central Mines Labor Federation Punjab has expressed deep sorrow and anger over the incident and extended heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the affected family.
