Rawalpindi (Staff Reporter): Following the recent flood storm and the overflow in Nullah Lai, citizens have been continuously demanding effective action against the buffalo pens established around Nullah Lai. Taking notice of this demand, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (R) Nadeem Nasir issued orders for action. On the Deputy Commissioner’s orders, MOR Imran Ali of the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation initiated a major crackdown against buffalo pens throughout the city, during which multiple pens were sealed.
According to sources, prior to the action, formal notices were issued to the owners of the relevant pens, instructing them to comply with regulations. However, due to non-compliance by some pen owners, the Municipal Corporation team took action and sealed them.
The buffalo pens established around Nullah Lai had become a significant issue for citizens. Complaints had been raised that waste and manure from these pens were being thrown into Nullah Lai, creating blockages and posing a risk of affecting water flow during flood situations. After the recent flood storm, citizens intensified their demands for immediate and effective action against the pens around Nullah Lai. Following this demand, action was carried out under the directives of the district administration.
MOR Imran Ali, during the action, not only sealed multiple pens but also instructed the relevant teams to continue further actions to ensure indiscriminate action against non-compliant pens. Citizens praised the action taken by MOR Imran Ali on the orders of Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (R) Nadeem Nasir, stating that timely and effective action was taken in response to the citizens’ important demand after the flood storm. Citizens have called for ongoing action against the pens established around Nullah Lai on a permanent basis.
