ANF Launches Nationwide Crackdown on Drug Smugglers, 18 Arrested

In 8 operations, drugs worth over 14.5 million rupees and totaling 242.9 kilograms were seized, including the arrest of a woman.

Islamabad (Asif Malik) The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested 18 suspects, including a woman, during a crackdown on drug smuggling in various cities across the country. A total of 242.9 kilograms of drugs, valued at over 14.5 million rupees, were seized during the operations.

According to an ANF spokesperson, 2.598 kilograms of ice concealed in two shampoo bottles were recovered from the bag of a passenger heading to Jeddah at Lahore Airport, leading to the arrest of the suspect. At Multan Airport, 2.5 kilograms of ice was found concealed in clothing of a passenger traveling to Saudi Arabia.

During an operation near Sahiwal Toll Plaza close to Faisalabad, 60 kilograms of hashish were seized from a truck and one suspect was arrested. Near the Islamabad Motorway Toll Plaza, a total of 60 kilograms of hashish were recovered from two vehicles, resulting in the arrest of 7 suspects.

Near the Expressway in Islamabad, 45.6 kilograms of hashish were seized from a vehicle, leading to the arrest of 2 suspects, while in an operation near Sohrab Goth, Karachi, 5 kilograms of hashish were recovered from one suspect.

During a search of two vehicles near Malk on GT Road Rawalpindi, a total of 4.8 kilograms of hashish were seized and 4 suspects were arrested. In a warehouse operation on Jinnah Road, Karachi, 62.4 kilograms of 208,000 Lexton tablets were also recovered.

According to the ANF, cases have been registered against all arrested suspects under the Anti-Narcotics Act of 1997, and further investigations have been initiated.
