ANF’s major success, joint operation against Afghan drug smuggling network in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, 671 kilos of ice seized

200 kilos seized from Karachi port and 471 kilos from 2 containers at Colombo port, 8 operatives including Afghan ringleader arrested

Islamabad (Izhaz Khan Niazi) – A significant joint operation against the Afghan drug smuggling network was conducted in Pakistan and Sri Lanka based on intelligence provided by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) of Pakistan, during which a total of 671 kilograms of methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, was seized from containers at the ports of Karachi and Colombo, and 8 operatives, including the Afghan ringleader, were arrested.
According to an ANF spokesperson, Pakistan has long been a transit route for drugs smuggled from Afghanistan and is also among the countries affected by these drugs. Pakistan has consistently maintained close cooperation with international law enforcement agencies against drug smuggling under its international obligations.
Details indicate that the ANF successfully conducted an operation against an international drug smuggling network based on intelligence, seizing 200 kilograms of methamphetamine from a container at Karachi port in July 2026. During this operation, 2 operatives, including the Afghan ringleader Ehsanullah, were arrested.
According to the spokesperson, information obtained during the interrogation of the arrested suspects and analysis of crucial evidence related to the network’s criminal activities were shared with Sri Lankan authorities and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
Based on intelligence provided by ANF Pakistan, Sri Lankan authorities conducted a joint operation, seizing 471 kilograms of ice from 2 containers at Colombo port. As a result of further actions, 6 more operatives of the drug smuggling network were also arrested.
According to the ANF spokesperson, a total of 671 kilograms of ice smuggled from Afghanistan was seized during the joint operation, which was being attempted to be transported to international markets using Pakistani territory.
ANF played a central role in this entire operation, identifying the international drug smuggling network through a modern intelligence-based strategy and facilitating significant actions against drugs abroad through timely information exchange and effective cooperation with other global law enforcement agencies.
The spokesperson noted that Sri Lankan authorities and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration have officially praised ANF’s role, stating that this success is clear evidence of the professional capabilities of the Anti-Narcotics Force and effective cooperation with law enforcement agencies globally.
The ANF spokesperson stated that the force will continue its operations to make Pakistan drug-free and to eliminate international drug smuggling networks.
