Bus collides with motorcycle on Adiala Road, 9-year-old girl dies, angry protesters demonstrate

Rawalpindi: (Syed Shahid Waheed Hashmi) A 9-year-old girl riding with her father on a motorcycle died after a bus collided with them near Manawar Colony on Adiala Road, while the girl’s father and another young girl on the motorcycle were unharmed. According to police, the tragic accident occurred in front of a private mart on Adiala Road, where a green bus struck the motorcycle. As a result of the accident, 9-year-old Ayesha, who was sitting with her father on the motorcycle, sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. Upon receiving the report of the accident, police arrived at the scene and took the bus driver into custody. Following the girl’s death, local residents became enraged and began protesting on Adiala Road, throwing stones at the bus. Police reported that the angry individuals also attempted to set the bus on fire; however, timely action by the police managed to control the situation and thwart the attempt to ignite the bus. Police have arrested 10 individuals involved in the rioting. Authorities stated that further investigations into the incident are ongoing, and the causes and responsibility for the accident will be determined after the investigation is complete.
