Overloaded tractor trailers are roaming the roads like a death sentence, claiming precious lives while the administration enjoys a deep slumber. In Wanjari, overloaded trailers carrying timber have started distributing death to the public; there are no lights or reflectors at the back, causing many motorcyclists to collide and fall into the embrace of death. A tragic incident occurred last night in Wanjari, where a local resident, Tariq Bahi, lost his life after being hit by an overloaded tractor trailer, while a well-known figure, Allama Hafiz Qari Jabbar, was severely injured.
This is not merely an accidental incident but a result of negligence and lawlessness that extinguishes the lights of many homes daily. Labor leader Zahid Iqbal Malakhel expressed these thoughts while speaking to the media. He stated that these tractor trailers, excessively loaded with minerals and timber, are essentially a death trap on the roads. Some fundamental and alarming reasons for the accidents include:
Timber and other materials extend several feet beyond the size of the trailer, which makes it impossible for oncoming motorcyclists or vehicles to gauge them in the dark.
Often, there are no high beam lights or reflectors indicating the dangerous limits on the unseen cargo at the back of the trailers. Most drivers of these vehicles do not possess a driving license, nor are they familiar with basic traffic rules and regulations, overtaking, speed limits, and the use of lights (dim and full), while often, young children are seen driving these vehicles.
In the past, many innocent children, youth, and breadwinners have lost their precious lives due to this chaotic overloading and disorder. He urged the local police station, traffic police, and relevant authorities to wake up from their deep sleep. Strict legal action should be taken without discrimination against vehicles engaged in illegal and dangerous overloading of minerals and timber. Unlicensed drivers and violators of laws and regulations should face heavy fines and the confiscation of trailers to prevent further loss of precious lives.
