Emphasis on local community involvement, prevention of illegal hunting, and scientifically based breeding programs

Islamabad (Izhaar Khan Niazi) – National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has declared the protection of wildlife, the survival of natural habitats, and the responsible use of natural resources as essential for the conservation of Pakistan’s natural heritage and biodiversity.

Speaking at an event organized by Safari Club International Pakistan in Islamabad, the Speaker stated that it is crucial to involve local communities in wildlife conservation, while also promoting the prevention of illegal hunting and scientifically based breeding programs.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed concern over the rapid melting of glaciers, floods, and environmental degradation, stating that the protection of glaciers, mountains, forests, and natural habitats is a national responsibility. He noted that Pakistan’s Parliament became the world’s first Green Parliament in 2015, and a water harvesting project is underway at the Parliament House to conserve and reuse rainwater.

The Speaker remarked that the Markhor is a symbol of Pakistan’s valuable natural heritage, and the protection of all wildlife, including it, is essential for ecological balance and Pakistan’s global identity. He praised the efforts of Safari Club International in wildlife and environmental conservation.
